Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Reconnection Process
How does reconnecting to a lost loved one work?
Our volunteers go directly to the streets, searching for unsheltered and lonely individuals who want to reconnect with a lost loved one. We record a short video message from them and begin the process of locating their loved one.
Additionally, case workers, homeless shelters, therapists, VA professionals, and outreach teams can submit a reconnection request on behalf of an individual using our online form.
What are the possible outcomes of the reconnection process?
We find your loved one and they want to reconnect:
We’ll share their contact information with you so you can take the next step.
We find your loved one but they don’t want to reconnect:
We’ll notify you by phone or email.
We’re unable to locate your loved one:
We’ll notify you by phone or email.

Typically, it takes 1 to 4 months to provide an outcome.
How will I be contacted?
We will contact you by phone or email.
How many people can I request to reconnect with?
You may submit one request. In some cases, we may allow up to two.
Why do you need a video?
A video ensures authenticity and helps your loved one recognize the sincerity of the request.
What if I don’t have a phone to record a video?
We recommend visiting a public place like a library and asking for help to record your video and submit the reconnection form.
